Linden Hall is committed to nurturing and empowering a new generation of female leaders. In an ever-changing world, it is imperative to foster environmental stewardship so that future leaders factor sustainability into every decision.
Throughout the school year, Linden Hall students can participate in a wide range of environmental programming. 6th grade students are introduced to the importance of environmental protection right from the start through their required Environmental Science class. 9th grade students spend a week together at Chincoteague Bay Field Station, studying aquatic organisms, maritime forests, dune ecology, and much more. Each year, Linden Hall students have the opportunity to learn off campus from experts at Millport Conservancy, Lancaster Conservancy, Millersville University's WETi Center, and Stroud Water Research Center.
Linden Hall also has an Eco Reps program, in which a cohort of student leaders tackle campus sustainability issues and educate peers to empower sustainable decision making. Eco Reps manage 100% of the school's recycling efforts by collecting, sorting, and disposing of recyclables both on campus and at Lancaster's Recycling Drop-Off Center.
In the Fall of 2021, Linden Hall began a new partnership with Wittel Farm, supplying compost material from campus grounds to support Wittel's sustainable farming efforts.
Outside of curriculum and campus programs, Linden Hall students continue to explore environmental issues through guest speakers, community service events, and individual projects.
