Ways to Give

Every contribution to Linden Hall is appreciated, as contributions directly and immediately benefit our faculty and students. Parents, alumnae, grandparents, faculty and staff, friends, foundations, and corporations help to meet Linden Hall's needs through their generosity. By partnering with us, donors fund outstanding academic, fine arts, athletic, and extracurricular programs; financial aid, faculty and staff enrichment; and building and grounds improvements.

To contribute to the Linden Hall family, please contact the Advancement Office at (717)626-8512, ext. 109. Your generosity continues our 270 year mission of educating and empowering outstanding young women.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees and retirees to contribute to charitable organizations. In some cases, companies will even provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Gifts are often matched dollar for dollar, and some companies will even double or triple the amount of your gift. Each year, Linden Hall benefits greatly from generous matching gift funds.

Endowment Gifts

Linden Hall is grateful to the farsighted benefactors who have contributed to the school's endowment. Gifts to the endowment provide a permanent source of income to the school while allowing the principal to grow. The funds are invested in perpetuity with a designated percentage of the earned income available for use on an annual basis. A strong endowment allows Linden Hall to meet the needs of ever-increasing costs.

Gifts can be added to an established Linden Hall endowment fund or for the purpose of establishing a new fund.

Linden Hall is thankful to the many donors who have established Endowment Funds in support of the current and future of our school.

Planned Gifts

Planned Gifts are a long-term method of supporting Linden Hall, in which a gift's use is postponed until a specified future date. An example of a planned gift is naming Linden Hall as a beneficiary in one's will. Other planned gifts include charitable remainder trusts, life insurance policies, or transfers of residence or personal property allowing the donor to retain a life estate. The Heritage Society of Linden Hall recognizes, honors, and thanks alumnae, parents, and friends who have remembered Linden Hall in their estate plans.

Bequest commitments are the ultimate expression of faith in Linden Hall's commitment to its girls. Donors may designate a fixed amount for the school or a percentage of their estate in their will. They may also bequest property or the residue of the estate to the school.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Both outright and deferred Charitable Gift Annuities, funded with cash or other assets, pay a fixed income to a donor (or donors) for life. A lawyer or financial advisor will assist you with setting up a gift annuity.

Life Estates

A donor may give a home or other residential or commercial property to the school while retaining the right to live in it for life or a specific term of years.

Life Insurance Policies

Policies naming the school as both the owner and the beneficiary are accepted. The donor must agree to continue paying the premiums, or the policy must have a paid-up cash value. The future premiums paid are deductible as cash contributions. Paid-up policies can also be given to the school, and the donor can deduct the replacement value of the policy.

Retirement Plan Designations

Individuals can name the school or a charitable trust as the primary or contingent beneficiary of retirement plan vehicles, particularly IRAs and other qualified plans.

Restricted Gifts

"Restricted gifts" are specified for particular use by the donor. These may include donations to capital improvements, financial aid, endowments, specific school programs, or special endeavors.

Gifts in Kind

Gifts of goods and services are always welcome. Please contact the Advancement office to determine if your item can be used at Linden Hall.

Honor/Memorial Gifts

Making a tribute or a memorial gift in a loved one's name is a special way to honor them. A gift can also be made to commemorate a special occasion such as a birthday, graduation, or anniversary. When making a Honor/Memorial gift, please include a note with your contribution indicating the gift intention and honoree. Honor/Memorial gifts will be acknowledged if a donor includes the name and address of the person to be notified.
