Each fall, Linden Hall undertakes the most important fundraising endeavor of the year — the Linden Hall Fund. This fund is the heart of our philanthropic community. We encourage enthusiastic participation to provide the necessary resources to serve our students with outstanding academics, arts, athletics, service, and leadership programs. Contributions allow us to raise the quality of programs and education at Linden Hall year after year.

Donations to the Linden Hall Fund allow us to fund the amazing programs that aren't covered by tuition. From extracurricular education, scholarship, and academic programming, your generosity helps to bridge this gap by meeting daily needs of the school. Gifts have an immediate, positive effect on our programs and help to ensure their continued success.

Support the Annual Fund

Linden Hall is grateful to the farsighted benefactors who have contributed to the school's endowment. Gifts to the endowment provide a permanent source of income to the school while allowing the principal to grow. The funds are invested in perpetuity with a designated percentage of the earned income available for use on an annual basis. A strong endowment allows Linden Hall to meet the needs of ever-increasing expenses.

Gifts of any size may be made to the endowment. A permanent, named endowment fund may be created at Linden Hall through a minimum gift of $50,000. With each endowment gift, once principal is invested, a portion of the income becomes available each year to support faculty, scholarships, the library, student programs, and other areas. Unrestricted endowment gifts give Linden Hall the flexibility to allocate funds to meet the greatest, most pressing needs. Named endowments provide a way to celebrate the lives of generous donors, their families or friends, or any special group, forever linking their names to the life and purpose of Linden Hall.

A gift of an appreciated asset, often common stock or mutual fund shares, is a valuable way to contribute to a charitable organization and receive tax benefits based on the value of the asset(s).

Because of the appreciation factor, gifts of securities “cost” donors less than equivalent gifts made in cash. By donating the stock, the charity receives a larger gift than it would receive if the investor first sold the stock and then donated the proceeds after deducting the capital gain taxes. The investor receives a greater tax deduction by giving the stock directly to the charity and avoiding the capital gain tax.

For the purposes of gift entry, your stock contribution is valued at the average value of the high and low value of the stock on the date it is delivered to Commonwealth Financial Services. As a matter of policy, all stock gifts are sold upon receipt.
