The Middle School

The Middle School nurtures girls in grades 6 through 8 as learners, leaders, and friends, laying a strong foundation for success in a college-preparatory Upper School program.

Our innovative curriculum features science courses such as Forensic Science in 7th grade and Engineering in 8th, as well as a Women in History course in 7th grade that cultivates the study of Greek. In 6th grade, students engage in a variety of project-based learning experiences that connect multiple disciplines, and have an introduction to coding.  Our 8th grade Civics course includes an in-depth examination of elections and participation in a mock trial. And also in 8th grade, our students also begin studying their World Language of choice, and enroll in math courses appropriate to their level—in some cases, in our Upper School. English courses incorporate the nurturing of confident public speaking and fluent writing. (See more curriculum details below.)

Outside the classroom, through small-group advising, field trips, Health and Wellness classes, arts and athletic opportunities, and community service, our middle school students develop at their own pace in the physical, social, and emotional realms. And, they have fun!
