The Echo, Linden Hall's literary magazine, is published annually in the spring and features student writing and visual art. Dating from 1897, the Echo is the oldest continually published women's literary magazine in the United States.
Linden Hall's award winning Equestrian Program offers a year-round competition schedule, lessons for beginners, and introduces the Lititz community to the world of riding. Recently, our riders were crowned Reserve National Champion at the IEA Dressage Nationals competition. Learn more about the program.
Our ESL Language program supports students in the development of their reading, listening, speaking and writing abilities. Upper school students also take at least two content area ESL courses. These courses may include ESL History, ESL Literature, and ESL Biology. We offer the TOEFL ITP exam three times a year.
Student speeches are the capstone of the English department's speaking and listening instruction. Each 10th, 11th, and 12th grade student gives an annual speech to the Linden Hall community. Speeches are 2-5 minutes long and reflect student passions, opinions, and experiences. In addition to giving students authentic public speaking experience, school speeches provide a platform for students to share their opinions, perspectives, and advice.
During our annual Lyceum celebration, we celebrate the academic achievements, artistic talents, and personal growth of our students. From scientific posters to elaborate business presentations, this is a time to reflect on our girls' hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Every April, our Spring Concert in Snavely Theater includes orchestral and choir performances, award-winning poetry monologues, and more! The student-led Art Show is held concurrently in Lyet Gallery, offering guests the opportunity to view student masterpieces of painting, photography, and sculpture.
Each week, Chapel brings students, faculty, and staff together to share speeches, musical performances, poetry, and more. The school chaplain discusses relevant lifestyle topics with students and leads all attendees in reciting our Statement of Community, Orders for the Day, and School Prayer. Each chapel closes with the student-led benediction.
