Welcome to Linden Hall – Where Girls Learn, Lead, and Thrive

It is my honor to welcome you to Linden Hall School for Girls. Since our founding in 1746, Linden Hall has been committed to excellence in the education of young women in a diverse community. For over 275 years, we have nurtured generations of girls to become confident scholars, compassionate leaders, and courageous changemakers.
At Linden Hall, girls in Grades 6 through 12 are supported through a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum that fosters academic depth, artistic exploration, athletic achievement, and an engaging student life. Our dedicated faculty and staff serve not only as teachers, coaches, advisors, and dorm parents; they are also mentors to the girls. They empower each student to reach her fullest potential and encourage growth in all facets of life.
Linden Hall girls explore a rich tapestry of disciplines, including the liberal arts, sciences, technology, visual and performing arts, and athletics. Linden Hall embraces the prestige of being a college-preparatory school by offering 29 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual enrollment programming with four colleges/universities, allowing our students to become academically prepared for college-level coursework.
Through these experiences, our students develop essential skills in leadership, self-advocacy, resilience, and empathy. They graduate not only with a strong sense of self but also with the tools to make a meaningful impact on the world.
Linden Hall alumnae have also made significant contributions to a wide array of fields and carry the spirit of Linden Hall with them wherever they go and do. We value our alumnae connections, which enrich the current student experience. Our students are proud to know some of our Linden Hall alumnae are research scientists, actresses, producers, media professionals, authors, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, an esteemed concert pianist and a Rhodes Scholar.
Nestled in the heart of Lititz, Pennsylvania, voted “America’s Coolest Small Town”, Linden Hall offers students the opportunity to safely explore a vibrant and welcoming community. In small groups, students enjoy walking to local shops and dining at local eateries where they may occasionally spot a music celebrity from nearby Rock Lititz, a hub of the live events industry. With convenient access to Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C., our students benefit from small-town charm and big-city adventures.
Our campus is a blend of tradition and innovation. The historic Mary Dixon Memorial Chapel hosts weekly school gatherings, while the modern Steinman Arts & Science Center houses state-of-the-art classrooms, Lyet Gallery and Snavely Family Theatre, where students showcase their talents in the visual and performing arts. Whether it is seeing our students take to the skies in our signature aviation program, cheering on our Lady Lions in the Anne Brossman Sweigart Sports and Fitness Center or celebrating 100 years of excellence in our equestrian program with our riders and horses, there is something extraordinary happening every day at Linden Hall.
Linden Hall’s diverse community has a global reach. This past school year, Linden Hall hosted four ASSIST scholars from Germany, Austria, and Georgia. We also welcomed our first cohort of students from Linden Hall Japan, our sister school in Fukuoka, Japan, and we are sending students to Linden Hall Japan this fall. This summer, some of our students also travelled throughout Spain and next year, they will go to France. Our students enjoy learning and sharing their diverse heritages and finding commonalities within the Linden Hall sisterhood.
As the 47th Head of School, I am proud to lead this caring and dynamic community where lifelong learning is celebrated, connections are built across cultures and continents, and the next generation of empowered women take flight! I warmly invite you to visit Linden Hall and experience firsthand the strength and spirit that define our community. When you walk on campus, you do not just enter a school, you become part of a remarkable legacy and an even brighter future.
All the best,

Dr. Shauna A. Carter
