New Interim Head of School Announced

May 8, 2020

Dear Linden Hall Community,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Nan Wodarz as the Interim Head of School for Linden Hall School for Girls, effective July 1, 2020. Nan will join us from Sant Bani School in Sanbornton, New Hampshire where she served as Interim Head for the 2019-2020 school year.

Nan is highly engaging and committed to education with over 30 years of public and private school experience as a teacher and administrator. She is a strong leader and decision-maker and is well versed in all areas of school operations. She impressed the Head of School Search Committee with her understanding of gifted education theory, and the Board believes she will bring positive guidance to Linden Hall. With past accomplishments in improving student performance, growing enrollment, and implementing advanced S.T.E.M. programs, Dr. Wodarz’s visions align with Linden Hall’s mission to educate and empower young girls.

Nan is a graduate of the University of Illinois, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Education. She earned a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from National Louis University and a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Supervision from Northern Arizona University. Dr. Wodarz has completed post-doctoral work at The Wharton School, Harvard Business School and Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Before assuming her role at Sant Bani School, Nan held previous leadership positions at Valwood School in Valdosta Georgia, the Sage School in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the Robinson School in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and The School at Church Farm in Exton, PA.

Nan’s educational philosophy includes the belief that schools should be a place of intellectual engagement and personal challenge. She believes that schools should be a place where creativity is nurtured and developed, and schools should be a community of learners. She has a strong conviction that there is no better place for children to learn than with a talented teacher in a classroom that inspires and engages them.

In this time of unprecedented challenge with a world pandemic, Linden Hall has found a superior leader whose depth of experience, financial acumen, and commitment to academic excellence firmly positions the school for continued success as we enter our 275th year of educating young girls.

With guidance from Nashville based educational search firm, The Education Group, Linden Hall will continue its search for a permanent Head of School throughout the next year. A survey has been completed by alumnae, trustees, faculty and staff, and parents to help identify the traits that are essential for the next permanent Head of School. Inquiries from the permanent Head of School candidates have been strong. The full Linden Hall Profile will be completed in the coming weeks and will be used as a part of the process for introducing prospective candidates to Linden Hall. The Head of School Search Committee is comprised of members representing each area of the Linden Hall community, including alumnae, trustees, faculty and staff, and parents. A full list of committee representatives can be found on the Linden Hall website.

The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Linden Hall community for its continued input and patience during the search process. We wish to express particular gratitude to the Search Committee who continues to serve us to identify and recruit the best possible permanent Head for the 2021-2022 school year.

Please join us in welcoming Nan to the Linden Hall Community. We are excited about the future of our School and look forward to introducing you to Nan in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,
