Linden Hall Endowment Funds

Linden Hall is thankful to the many donors who have established Endowment Funds in support of the current and future of our school.

ANNA S. ALEXANDER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1997 by Anna Sausser Alexander, a former teacher of chemistry
The income from this fund shall be used to provide financial support for students who demonstrate financial need and academic promise.

MARY JANE FISHER ANDERSON ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1995 in honor of her daughter, Wendy Anderson Aichele, a member of the faculty, and two granddaughters, Anne Aichele '97 and Molly Aichele '98
The income from this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees, preferably to enhance faculty salaries and professional development.

BETSY C. BLADES '61 ENDOWMENT FUND
Established in 2002 by alumna Betsy C. Blades '61
The income from this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees to supplement the arts departments.

FANNIE WARE BRENNECKE ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1995 by M.W. (Hap) Brennecke '28 in honor of her mother, Fannie Ware Brennecke, Class of 1894 PG and Head of the Linden Hall Music Department 1898–1903
The income from this fund is to be used specifically to enable worthy students to have lessons on the piano or organ.

BRICKENSTEIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1896 by the Linden Hall Alumnae Association in memory of Dr. Hermann A. Brickenstein (Headmaster 1873–1892), who is fondly remembered and beloved by his girls for his firm leadership, scholarly standards, and fatherly devotion
The income from this fund (still managed by the Linden Hall Alumnae Association) is used to educate a girl or girls at Linden Hall, with preference given to the daughter of an alumna, the daughter of a Moravian minister, or any other worthy girls.

HATHAWAY AND EFFIE CROSS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1995 in honor of their granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Cross '95
The interest from the fund will be used for financial assistance for deserving young women who need the unique resources of a Linden Hall education.

DAVID & MIRIAM DEVEY ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1993 by Headmaster Devey and his wife
The use of the income is unrestricted, with preference given to the financial aid of students.

ELLA NOLDE ERDMAN ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1998 by Carl L. N. Erdman in memory of his mother, Ella Nolde Erdman, Class of 1908, who enjoyed a lifelong interest in music and the arts
The use of the income from this fund is unrestricted, with preference given to financial aid to deserving students who need support to attend Linden Hall.

EDWARD E. FORD ENDOWED FUND FOR FACULTY SALARIES
Established in 1984 by the Edward E. Ford Foundation
The income from this fund is to be used to enhance faculty salaries.

CHARLES A. FRUEAUFF ENDOWED CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION FUND
Established in 1995 for the purpose of campus beautification
The income from this fund is to be used to provide support for the yearly care and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of Linden Hall.

CHARLES A. FRUEAUFF ENDOWED LIBRARY FUND
Established in 1994 by the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation
The income from this fund is to be used to provide operating support to improve the print collection, computer access, and media resources of the Charles A. Frueauff Library at Linden Hall.

CHARLES A. FRUEAUFF ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1993 by the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation
The income from this fund is to be used to provide financial aid to deserving young girls who need support to attend Linden Hall.

THE GALE ENDOWMENT FUND
Established in 1999 by Thomas H. and Barbara W. Gale '62
The purpose of the fund is to supply merit-based scholarships to students at Linden Hall born in the United States of America who have proven to show exceptionally strong moral behavior and who have exhibited significant achievement over the course of their studies.

MARY P. GOODYEAR ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1996 as an expansion of the Mary P. Goodyear Latin Award Fund (1963)
This fund honors a beloved former teacher, Mary P. Goodyear, who taught Latin and history at Linden Hall from 1928 to 1964. The income from this fund is to be used to provide financial aid to deserving students who need support to attend Linden Hall.

THE HEADMASTER'S SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1998 in honor of Headmaster David J. Devey, by his good friend, a former trustee and a long-time supporter of Linden Hall, William B. Oehme
The use of the income from this fund is unrestricted, with preference given to financial aid to deserving students who need support to attend Linden Hall.

DR. BYRON K. HORNE MEMORIAL ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1993 by Linden Hall alumnae and the Horne family to honor Dr. Byron K. Horne, beloved Headmaster of the school from 1947 to 1969
The income from the fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees, preferably to provide financial assistance to a superior student who demonstrates an interest in medicine, engineering, or the ministry.

YASUTO KAETSU ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1998 by Yasuto Kaetsu, principal of our sister school, the Kaetsu Girls Junior and Senior High School, Tokyo, Japan
The income from the fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees, preferably to provide financial aid to deserving students who need support to attend Linden Hall.

LINDEN HALL JUNIOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 2002 by the Junior College alumnae
Income from this fund is to be used to provide financial support to a deserving student(s) who exemplifies the spirit of Linden Hall and has attended Linden Hall for at least two years. This interest will be divided equally between fund principal and financial aid—50% will go back into the principal and 50% will be used for financial support.

PHYLLIS STADLER LYON ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1998 by Phyllis Stadler Lyon, Class of 1952
The income from this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

COURTNEY ASTRID MENDENHALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 2006 by Joan Horvitz in honor of her granddaughter Courtney Astrid Mendenhall '06
This scholarship will provide financial aid to young women who demonstrate outstanding potential but who reside in underdeveloped countries with poor educational opportunities for girls so that they may attend Linden Hall and look forward to promising futures.

CORBIN ARMSTRONG MORRISON '76 SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1995 by Mary Richards Colket, mother of Corbin
The income from this fund is to be used for art or drama.

WILLIAM B. OEHME ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1995 by Mr. Oehme, a former trustee and longtime supporter of Linden Hall
The income from this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

EDNA SHIRK POSEY & IDA HOSTETTER SHIRK ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1993 by Margaret Posey McCollough in loving memory of her mother, Edna Shirk Posey (LH 1909), and her grandmother Ida Hostetter Shirk (LH 1879)
The income from the fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.

THE ROCK GARDEN ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1997 by a former teacher, in memory of gardener Clayton Snavely, for the purpose of preservation of the Rock Garden
The income from this fund is to be used to provide support for the yearly care and maintenance of the Rock Garden.

CHRISTIAN MILLER SNAVELY III MEMORIAL FUND
Established in 1995 by his family in memory of their son, brother, and uncle
The income from this fund is to be used to provide financial aid for day students.

PATRICIA SULLIVAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1994 by Barbara Whitelaw Gale '62 in honor of former faculty member and Admissions Director Patricia Sullivan, who served the students of Linden Hall in an exemplary manner and is loved and respected by all
The income from the fund is to be used to provide financial aid for deserving students who possess a deep interest in Drama and English and who wish to attend Linden Hall.

THE THOMPSON-COTTOM FUND
Established in 1993 by Nancy Cottom Gallagher '50 for the purpose of campus beautification
The income from this fund is to be used to provide support for the yearly care and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of Linden Hall.

FRIEDA H. TILENIUS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Established in 1996, the donor's daughter, Nancy Tilenius Stieben, graduated from Linden Hall in 1959
The income from this fund is to be used to provide academic scholarships for young women who wish to attend Linden Hall.

TSUZUKI ENDOWED FUND
Established in 1996, in honor of Asuka Tsuzuki '96, by Mr. and Mrs. Yasuhisa Tsuzuki, her parents
The income from this fund is to be used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees.
