Equestrian Program at Linden Hall
As a part of a diverse athletic program offered to students at Linden Hall, the
Riding Program is dedicated to providing safe, quality instruction for both horse
and rider that establishes a strong foundation in riding and horsemanship to supplement
our challenging college preparatory education for young women in grades six through
twelve. The skills required to be a successful equestrian are not only applicable
in riding, but in life as well... dedication discipline, competition, a sense of
individual accomplishment, being a good member of a team, self-confidence, development
of skill and talent, and pursuing something that you enjoy with passion.
The riding program at Linden Hall meets the needs of riders of all levels, from
the beginner to the recreational rider to the advanced competitor. Over 30% of our
students participate each year in this excellent program. The focus of instruction
is hunter/jumper and equitation based. In addition, the Linden Hall Riding Program
includes the development of good horsemanship and general stable management skills.
In addition to our riding instruction program, there are clinics and guest instructors
for girls to pursue their equestrian studies in areas of interest.
Opportunities for competition are provided through local shows, the Tri-State Equitation
League, the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, and various United States Equestrian
Federation (USEF) rated horse shows. Linden Hall supports its very own Varsity and
Junior Varsity Equestrian teams
The
stable and riding facilities are located on our 47-acre campus in the heart of Lititz,
Pa. We have a 20-stall, center aisle stable, with a heated and air conditioned tack
room. Linden Hall has a new, well-lit, outdoor arena with all-weather footing, perfect
for riding even after dark. The facility has a beautiful 80’ X 200’ wooden indoor
riding ring with viewing deck, temperature controlled viewing lounge, all new rubber
footing, and a state-of-the-art sprinkling system. There are several paddocks and
fields with brand new fencing for turnout, as well as various cross-country fences
located around the stable area. The Riding Program has many school owned horses
suitable for all different levels of riding. The school has several stalls reserved
for student-owned horses. Our students ride a minimum of two days a week to fulfill
their physical education requirement, but may ride as many as six days a week if
they choose.
The riding program continues in the summer with overnight and day riding camps open
to the public and for riders of different skill levels.
A dedicated and profession staff creates a learning atmosphere that is appropriate
for beginning through experienced competition riders.

Jennifer Merris-Dolk, Director of Riding, is an alumna
of Linden Hall. She has over ten years of professional experience training and riding
in the local area as well as on the “A” circuit. Jennifer has qualified students
for the Pony Finals, Zone Finals, CCHSA Medal Finals, and Devon.
Equestrians of all ages and abilities will discover that Linden Hall offers a well-rounded
riding program designed to develop a strong foundation of horseback riding skills.
