Enrichment through the written and spoken word
The literary arts are alive at Linden Hall. Through various classes, clubs, and campus events students have opportunities to participate in a variety of unique and exciting activities:
The Ledger
The Ledger is the student newspaper. Students meet weekly and publish several times a year. There are opportunities for students to engage as reporters, columnists, photographers, editors, and cartoonists. There is also a Middle School page for younger writers.

Speech/Debate
Students can participate in public speaking and debate. There is even an international speech competition, where international students can partner with an English-speaking student to develop and present a speech, competing to win prizes up to $500.
Book Talks
The entire Linden Hall campus sets aside a special morning to discuss the books that students read throughout the summer.
Visiting Authors
Linden Hall regularly brings award-winning authors to campus for book discussions and creative writing workshops. Students and faculty are always excited to participate in these dynamic, hands-on sessions. In the last year, Linden Hall welcomed award-winning authors Margaret McMullan (Parent’s Choice, American Library Assoc.), Matt Phelan (O’Dell Award), Tom Angleberger (E.B.White Award), and Sharon Robinson (nation-wide acclaim for her books about her father, baseball legend Jackie Robinson). |
