The Arts At Linden Hall
Building an appreciation for both the visual and performing arts is the focus of
the arts program at Linden Hall. A broad range of visual arts, photography, theater,
and music courses inspire and challenge our students to grow and develop a respect
for the arts as an integral part of our society.
Our music department offers chorus, instrumental, music history, and hand bell choirs
for both Middle and Upper School students. There are performance opportunities throughout
the year both on and off campus. Individual instrumental and vocal lessons are available
for students interested in advancing their skills as well as vocal music and piano
keyboarding classes.
Drama productions and a spring musical provide students with the opportunity to
work together towards a common goal. An array of drama courses, such as theater
through history, storytelling and scene study, are available for novice actresses
and those interested in pursuing careers in theater. Our drama classes are designed
to instill poise and confidence when speaking or performing in public.
All areas of photography are offered to those students interested in focusing on
using the camera to express ideas. Linden Hall offers traditional black and white
photography, digital photography, and a film and video club, as media for developing
creative visual communication skills.
The visual arts offerings range from academic instruction to a more contemporary
approach using traditional media. Foundation art courses for beginners and Middle
School students are offered as well as a wide array of more in depth instruction
in various disciplines including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, wearable
art, and artist’s book. AP Art history is also available for students considering
art as a career option.
The arts programs at Linden Hall provide students with opportunities for personal
growth through creative expression and encourage greater awareness of how our lives
are enriched by the arts.
