Come experience the spirit of sisterhood

As we celebrate Linden Hall’s 265th year, it is with great pride that we reflect upon the last several years and celebrate the school we have become. By placing a talented student body in the presence of outstanding faculty and individualized courses of study, Linden Hall has developed the top ranked academic program of any school in the region and of any girls’ boarding/day school in the United States. No other regional school and no other American  independent (day or boarding) school for girls can match the combination of our median SAT of 2095, SSAT average of 720, and average Advanced Placement (AP) Exam score of 4.6.

We are extraordinarily proud of our academic excellence, yet the magic of Linden Hall goes well beyond academics:

Tradition

Founded in 1746, Linden Hall is the oldest girls’ school in the United States. The traditions and remarkable sense of history that were slowly perfected over the centuries still augment and enliven our daily lives.

All-Girl Focus, Small Class Size

The educational research is clear in its strong support of the benefits of both a single-sex education and small class size. With an all-girl enrollment of 250 students and an average class size of just 12, Linden Hall remains both single-sex and small by choice – it’s an academic combination that best prepares our young women to take on the leadership roles of tomorrow.

Diversity

There is incredible diversity within our student body, which fosters an enriching learning and living experience that prepares students for leadership in a flattened world. It’s a diversity that encompasses race, religion, socio-economics, and geography. Specifically, Linden Hall students come from 15 countries and 14 states.

Sisterhood

At Linden Hall, there is a remarkable interpersonal atmosphere that must be experienced to be understood. Middle-schoolers blend with upper-schoolers. Day and boarding students are indistinguishable. International students expand each other’s horizons every day. There is a spirit of sisterhood, caring, and encouragement at Linden Hall that allows me to confidently say that in 30 years as a professional educator, I have never encountered such a positive, supportive, and healthy environment for young adults to live and learn.

Location

Unlike many other boarding schools, our students do not feel sequestered by the location of our campus. Nestled in the quaint, historic town of Lititz, PA, students are within walking distance to many great shops, restaurants and other establishments. Lititz is truly our campus! We are also within close proximity to New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington. Our students take weekend trips that connect them to major urban centers for endless enrichment – while returning them nightly to the safety of our small central Pennsylvania town.

There is truly no other school – no other community – like Linden Hall. I invite you to come and experience the campus and our students for yourself. Discover our history. Be enriched by our diversity. Experience our spirit of sisterhood – and see why girls lead at Linden Hall.

Sincerely,
Vincent M. Stumpo, Ph.D.
