The ILD (Independent Living Dorm) houses
upper school students (grades 10 and above) who have been at Linden Hall
for one year, have successfully completed an application process and have shown
themselves capable of living in a more independent setting. While the dorm will
be expected to maintain a respectful atmosphere conducive to study, individuals
in this dorm will have the following privileges:
- Relaxed “lights out” policy. While
students will be accounted for by staff at designated time each evening, they
will have the opportunity to have their lights on later. ILD residents must
observe established quiet hour policies. However, abuse of
this privilege can result in the privilege being revoked for all or that
student’s removal from the ILD. All students should not exceed 12:00 am as a
curfew on school nights. The ILD should observe quiet hour guidelines
after 10:00 pm
- Students in ILD may have TV’s and VCR’s
in their rooms. At present there is no cable hookup to individual rooms.
- Sign In and Sign Out for ILD residents
will be in their dorm, Monday through Thursday. Sign In and Out on the
weekends still must be done in Honeycutt Lounge. Part of the privilege of
living in this dorm is a student’s ability to show responsibility. Failure to
properly sign in and/or out can result in removal from the dorm.
- Increased town privileges. Student in
the ILD may sign out to go town on a weekend for a total of 4 hours each day
(this is double the amount allowed to students in other dorms).
- Optional Breakfast. Students may opt
out of breakfast checks in the morning. While attendance at breakfast is not
mandatory for ILD students, please remember that proper nutrition is essential
for good academic performance.
The development of the ILD is a growing process. Privileges may be added,
modified or deleted dependent upon the population in the dorm, at the
discretion of the Dorm Management Team.
- ILD residents will adhere to general
quiet hour policies as do the other dorms. Failure to observe quiet hour
policies can result in loss of privileges and/or dismissal from ILD.
These times are as follows:
Sunday through Thursday after 10:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday after 11:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday mornings until 10:00 a.m.
