But have you ever stopped and pondered how big snowflakes can get? Or how snow can be a good insulator? Snowflakes, which are agglomerates of many snow crystals, are less than one-half inch across. However in near-freezing temperatures and light winds much larger and irregular flakes close to two inches across in the longest dimension can form.
